Media

Colored pencil:

Black pencil is used to define the overall composition; two different densities of black pencil appear to have been used

Green pencil is applied in large passages that create the cart and wheel

Greenish-blue pencil is used in some mask-like faces and hair, as well as clothing

Purplish-blue pencil is used in the drum structure and stick at the URC and in some of figure’s hair/facial boils

Yellow pencil is used in the pillar at the left side and in many of the musical instruments (esp. horns)

Touches of red pencil are used to highlight the facial features throughout; in the chicken lower right area; clawed hand at center; and gouged eye at upper right side

Graphite:

Minimal if at all: Possibly hard pencil or lighter pencil (creates indented lines) in center area for harp strings; and in the hand in the  URC

Watercolor:

Scratching:

Additional media notes:

There are small strokes of light orange media, possibly gouache or oil paint figure’s hair in center area; similar media is visible in 5I in the LRC in the figure’s eye

Composition

Drawing to sheet edges:

All edges

Drawing into adjacent sheet:

Black pencil lines and most colored media passages correspond to comp at left into 6G, although only a few diagonal lines at the center edge appear to directly extend across the edges; figure’s blue-colored bottom is not continued across

Darker black pencil used to create the large tuba/horn at the top center extends into 5H; perhaps serving as a visual device to link sheets; also violin? extends above

Figure and column along left side correspond across to 6G, though the color passages often abruptly shift, for instance the figure’s red thighs abruptly shift to blue in buttocks in 6G

Compositional changes/additions:

Perhaps swirl motif at lower left area

Artist’s patches:

Former restoration:

Large filled loss in center-right area
