Media

Graphite:

Possibly used overall, most notably along the right side, in the figures and the faces

Colored pencil:

Black pencil is in some areas of the composition; a lightly pigmented black pencil may have been used to create composition at the left side; a very dark pencil/crayon is applied over detailed graphite drawing along the right half of the composition to define general areas; black pencil applied prior to laying down color media.

Blue pencil is added lightly in the background smoke imagery and in the LRC in the religious figure’s robe

Green pencil is faintly visible in the ULC in the monstrous figure blowing a horn

Pastel:

Orange-red pastel/possibly pencil is applied in ULC for dragon’s tongue and ?; and ain figure’s head at center left side

Watercolor:

Touches of yellow watercolor are visible under magnification in the LRC (does this extend into 4D?)

Scratching:

Additional media notes:

Unidentified transparent faint yellow media highlights demon-figure with horn in ULC (similar to that in 4B and 4F)

Technical Notes

Composition

Drawing to sheet edges:

All edges

Drawing into adjacent sheet:

Composition in LRC extends below into 5D, though drawn lines do not cross over edges and the media changes (perhaps one skull overlaps edges) and the media changes from black pencil to graphite

The composition media and imagery correspond to that in 5E

A couple of black pencil and orange-red pastel/pencil lines in the ULC extend into 2D when edges are abutted; a small area of faces in the URC continue into 2D

Compositional changes/additions:

Possibly the addition of dragon like creature and aches below it at center right—drawn in dark black pencil
